listelle Hatlrrn and Mrs. Eagle Mat-ulich. A T-shaped table was laid in a private dining room fo the dinner. The tabl? wm festive with beautifully amnged fresh greenery, shiny red ap pies and spiral candles. Candy canes were at each place as favors.

Mrs. Bert Lawrence read the story of the birth of Christ from th Bible and Mrs. Louis Barnes gave the invocation. A delightful holiday turkey dinner was served. Fol'owing the meal Mrs.

Lawrence read a Christmas story from Meals. During the evening the club voted to make its annual cash donation to the local United Christmas Fund. Members attending with the hostesses were Mrs. Lee Johnson, Mrs. Hai Windham, Mrs.

Byron Massey, Mrs. Gladys Lcwsry, Mrs. Madelyn Lokey. Mrs. Frank Mat ulich, Mrs.

W. B. Barnes, Miss Mary Margaret Barnes, Mrs. Ruth Newsom and Mrs. Bert Shealv.

William H. Wood, grandmother of the bridegroom, was attired in an aqua dress with beaded trim. Each wore a rrrsagj of white mums with ornaments. Reception Following ceremony reception was held at the resi denco of the aunt and uncle of the bridegroom, Mayor and Mrs. Haley M.

Carter, Main street, Franklinton. For tnt occasion the home was decorated with white chrysanthemums and carnations. The bride's table was covered with a white crocheted cloth and held an antique crystal punch bowl, and the wedding cake. Four cakes formed the first of the four tiers. The cake was decorateti paio pink and green and cre-ted with a bride and in a gazebo.

Two aunts of the bridegroom assisted at the reception with Mrs. Chester Jenkins serving punch 3nd Mrs. Chester Green, serving cake. Tea girls were Miss Ann Carter and Miss Connia Carter. The couple will reside near Columbia after a wedding trip to Mexico.

On the eve of the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Carter entertained at a rehearsal supper at Franklinton Coun-ry Club. White chrysanthemums decorated the table.

Saturday, Francis Marion Chapter Of CAR Holds First Meeting Carolyn Rankin; Legend, Eve Wellons; The First Christmas Tree, Kathy Houston, with the group singing 'O! Christmas Why December 1 for Christmas, Lynn Campbell; Traditional The Centenary Methodist church in Franklinton, was the setting for the wed-g of Miss Christine Purdy to John H. Shepherd on Dec. 4 at o'clock in the evening. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

C. C. Purdy of DtRidder, La. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Robert P. Carter of Columbia. A bouquet of white chrysan themums was placed at the center of the altar. At each side were candelabra entwined with greenery holding white tapers and baskets of white chrysanthemums. The Rev.

Jerry Means offi ciated at the ceremony. Soloist was Colon C. Purdy, brother of the bride, who was accompanied at the piano by Miss Ellene Owens of Alex andria, La. She also joined Mr. Purdy in a duet.

Miss Bonnie Green played selections at the organ and on the guitar. The bride wore a formal gown of candlelight peau de soie and chantilly lace fashioned with a high Victorian collar, Empire waist, and long full sleeves banded with a wide cuff. Appliques of chantilly lace embroidered with seed pearls enhanced the sleeves, A-line skirt, and tubular train. The skirt and train were also bordered with the lace at the hemline. Her waist-length veil of illusion fell from a Juliet cap of lace embroidered with seed pearls.

Her jewelry was a cameo, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a nosegay of white carnations and larkspur with white ribbon streamers. Miss Purdy's attendants were Miss Susan Butler, of Baton Rouge, maid of honor, Miss Chloe Carter of Columbia, bridesmaid, and Virginia Leigh Carter of Columbia, flower girl. Their gowns of deep red velvet were styled vw'h an Empire waist, short puff sleeves, and a full tiered skirt. They carried white mums with red ornaments in a cascade arrangement.

The bridegroom was attended by his father, Robert P. Carter, best man, and Daryl Hilburn of Shreteport, groomsman. Ushers were Peter Mader of New Orleans and Keith Sadler of Bur.kie, La. The bride's mother chose a coat dress ensemble in. blue with beige accessories.

Mr, and Mrs. Olin C. Geiger, announce the arrival of a daughter, Melissa Delain, born Nov. 22 at Marion County General hospital weigiiing eight pounds, 14 ounces. The mother is the former Doris Brewton.

Daisy Gardner. The Francis Marion Chapter of the Children of the American Revolution had their first meeting in the Paiish House of the St. Stephen's Episcopal church on Doc. 12 at 2:00 p.m. Jane Fortenberry, president, called the meeting to order.

Sha lead in the pledge to the flag and the American Creed. Mrs. William Forten'ierry, senior president, explained the duties of the various officers to be elected before the in stallation meeting in January. The Busy Bees 4-H Club gave the program with each girl telling the meaning about our symbols of Christmas. Mrs. Fortenberry and Mrs. Buford Cooper were the sponsors.
