He was inducted into the service Nov. 4, 1942, and was discharged Nov. 11, 1945. Members of Mississippi National Guard Company 890th Engineer Bn. served as pallbearers in the military rites.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie McCain Toney, Gretna; two sons, and Grady Gretna; seven daughters, Shirley Brooks, Knoxville, Pauline Smith, Boga-lusa, Debbie Hibley and Dale LaChute, both of Gretna, Marsha Pruzie, Westwego, Geraldine Stogner and Ginny Young, both of Columbia; his mother, Margaret Rushing Toney, Pearl River, one brother, Lee Toney, Pearl River; and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Thomas, Meraux, and Dorothy Neubig, Lake Shore, and 26 grandchildren. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Lee after the meeting.
